SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION 1.1 Description This software is designed to install the Avaya Wireless PCI adapter in Microsoft Windows 95, NT v4.0 & 2000 operating systems. You do not need to install this PCI enabler if you are running a Microsoft Windows 98 or Windows Me. This software for the Avaya Wireless PCI adapter card is officially released and supported software of Avaya Communication Inc. 1.2 Software Components DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE FOR MS-WINDOWS 98 AND/OR ME OPERATING SYSTEMS. INSTALLATION OF THE CORRECT DRIVERS FOR THESE OPERATING SYSTEMS IS DONE AUTOMATICALLY BY THE MS-WINDOWS 98/ME OPERATING SYSTEM ITSELF. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 2.1 Operating System The software and/or drivers provided with this ZIP file can be installed on the operating systems Windows 95, Windows NT version 4.0, SP4 or higher or Windows 2000. 2.2 Free Disk Space To install and run the software you will need 29 kB of free disk space for the enabler and 100 kB of free disk space for the Avaya Wireless PC Card driver. ----------------------------------------------------------- 3. NEW IN THIS RELEASE 3.1 Version 5.00. Version 5.00 is the initial release of this software, allowing you to install the WaveLAN/PCI Enabler in MS-Windows NT v4.0 and WIN95 environments only. Please consult the Avaya website (http://www.Avaya.com) for a newer version of the PCI Enabler software (version 5.00 or higher). 3.2 Version 5.02 Support for TI-1410 PC Card Controller added. Windows 2000 support added. Windows 95 support enhanced. Enabler not needed anymore, an INF file is provided instead. Quick installation instruction provided in PDF file. 3.3 Version 5.02b The software is placed in different directories for the different Operating Systems. No change in the support files themselves. ----------------------------------------------------------- 4. INSTALLATION NOTES Quick installation instructions are provided in the PCI_Help.pdf Adbobe Acrobat file. Installation procedures are described in the flyer for Avaya Wireless PCI adapter that came with your Avaya Wireless PCI product. Please refer to this document for information about installing and configuring your Avaya Wireless product. To view or print PDF files you will need the freeware Acrobat Reader that can be downloaded from the Adobe Web Site (http://www.adobe.com/acrobat). 4.1 Installation Notes for MS-Windows 95, 2000 and NT Please refer to the Avaya Wireless User's Guide for the description of the software installation. This section contains additional information and corrections only. 4.2 I/O Port conflicts under MS-Windows 95, 98, and NT When your Avaya Wireless Card's installation completed successfully, but it does not become operational (Client Manager reports "WaveLAN card not operational"), you are advised to try a different I/O Port value. The Windows Resource Manager does not always detect a conflict. This problem has been noticed under Windows 95 OSR 0, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0. 4.3 IRQ conflicts under MS-Windows 95, 98, and NT When your Avaya Wireless Card's installation completed successfully, and Client Manager reports "Connected to Infrastructure Network" or "Connected to Independent Network", but your station can not communicate with the network, you are advised to try a different IRQ (Interrupt) value. The Windows Resource Manager does not always detect a conflict. ----------------------------------------------------------- 5.
