TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS 5.1 Unable to use internet explorer. Description: When trying to brows the internet with internet explorer you get the error message "The page you are looking for cannot be found". Impact: After installing the software on the device you are unable to brows the internet with internet explorer on your Windows CE device. Action: * Make sure your Network are configured correctly. You can do this by clicking the "Network" icon in the control panel. * Make sure your proxy server is configured correctly. Do this by clicking Tools/Options/Connections" in internet explorer. * Make sure you have entered your password correctly in the "Wireless Network" configuration. If the password is spelled incorrectly the Avaya Wireless Client will show a good connection but no communication will be possible. * Disconnect your Windows CE device from your PC and try again. 5.2 Device does not show the "Wireless Network" Icon in the control panel. Description: After installing the software on the device the "Wireless Ntwork" icon is not displayed in the Control Panel. Impact: You will not be able to configure the card from the control panel. Action: Some devices might require a reset after installation before the "Wireless Network" icon becomes visible in the Control Panel. 5.3 Device does not show the Network Icon Description: On some Handheld PC devices running the MS-Windows CE v2.00 operating system the files required to support network connectivity have not been pre-installed. To determine if network connectivity have not pre-installed open the "Control Panel" of your handheld device and look for the "Network" icon. If this icon is missing you will need to run the additional installation file called "netsetup.exe" prior to installing the WaveLAN driver software. Impact: If these networking files are missing, you will not be able to establish a network connection using a network adapter card like the Avaya Wireless PC Card. Action: The installation file "netsetup.exe" will add the 'WinCE 2.0 Additional Network Components' if they were not pre-installed on your handheld device by the hardware manufacturer. Optionally, you may check the CD-ROM or disk that came with your device for the same file. On some devices you may need to "RESET" the device using the special reset button of the bottom of the device before the Network icon will display correctly. Consult the documentation of your handheld device to locate the reset button. 5.4 HPC device does not show the "Wireless Settings" Icon Description: On some Handheld PC devices running the MS-Windows CE v2.00 operating system the WaveLAN icon does not show up after installing the Avaya Wireless driver. Impact: This is caused by the fact that the device does not have the file "MFCCE20.DLL" pre-installed, which is required to display and run the WaveLAN driver configuration panel. Action: Use the Windows CE Services to copy the "MFCCE20.DLL" from the Avaya Wireless CD-ROM to the system folder of your handheld device. Remove and re-insert the Avaya Wireless PC Card to verify if the "Wireless Settings" icon displays correctly. You may need to restart the device to allow the MS-Windows CE system to load the file correctly. 5.5 WaveLAN PC Card Hardware Compatibility Description: All Avaya Wireless PC Cards are backwards compatible with previously marketed WaveLAN PC Cards. You can use all Avaya Wireless PC Cards inside a handheld device running Windows CE. WaveLAN PC Cards manufactured between June and September 1998 have a hardware design that is not compatible with the Windows CE driver. Impact: WaveLAN PC Cards with a Serial Number lower than 98UT08333219 can not be used in devices running Windows CE. The Serial Number of the card is printed on a label on the back-side of the WaveLAN PC Card. This type of cards can however be used without problems in any other supported operating system (Windows 95/98/NT and/or MS-DOS, Apple & Linux). Action: You are advised to: * Only use cards with Serial Number 98UT08333219 or higher in handheld devices running Windows CE. * Use cards with Serial Number 98UT08333218 or lower only in computers that run the Windows 95/98/NT/2000, MS-DOS, Apple or Linux operating system.
